About KN Foods

1999

KN Foods is founded by Kunihiko Nakano, who previously worked as a fine dining chef and owned several restaurants in Japan and United States.

2018

Entrepreneur Tony Moran takes over the company when Nakano retires, growing it from garage-based startup to an established business, implementing operational improvements and opening a warehouse.

2023

KN Foods enters expansion mode with a revamped website and new products.

From day one we have focused on sourcing unique and hard to find Japanese products from markets and farmers in Japan. We are best known for supplying top-quality yuzu, soy sauces, vinegars and more while continually adding new products such as sesame seeds and Okinawan black sugar.

Our company has grown by word of mouth, becoming a favorite supplier amongst distributors, wholesalers and a select group of top chefs and their protégés, including a 3 Michelin star chef based in Yountville, and the first Korean chef in the world to be awarded 3 Michelin stars, with 3 restaurants in San Francisco.

Our senior management visits Japan regularly, and our purchasing agent is based in Japan. We proudly offer only products that are compliant with the Foreign Supplier Verification Program, an FDA program that provides assurance that foreign suppliers of food and beverage products meet the same safety requirements as US-based companies. Customers appreciate our responsiveness, consistency, and customized boutique approach.
